Location pages

A place. A reason. A useful page.

A city name is a starting point. Build the page around what someone there needs to know, the work your firm actually handles and an honest way to reach you.

Serve a place. Describe it honestly.

Answer a question the homepage cannot.

Someone searching for a practice in a particular city may need information that a firm-wide homepage does not explain. Search results vary by query and context; no rule makes a city-specific page an automatic winner.

Choose a local page when the firm genuinely serves the place and the page has a distinct job. Connect it to relevant practice information, such as personal injury or criminal defense, rather than creating disconnected keyword destinations.

Choose the need before the page count.

The useful level depends on the place, the firm’s actual service and the information available. A city, county or other area may need its own explanation; there is no universal one-page-per-city rule or blanket ban on neighborhood pages.

Similar pages made mainly to capture search variations and funnel readers elsewhere can breach Google’s doorway or scaled-content policies. A longer page or a changed city name does not resolve that problem.

Start with existing pages and genuine local questions. Improve a page that already answers the need; add a distinct page only when its purpose and factual content justify it.

Local detail that is actually local.

What makes a city page worth reading?

Relevant institutionThe real questionUseful detail has a source.

Local detail belongs when it helps the reader understand a real legal or practical question. A list of landmarks or a city name repeated in generic copy does not do that work.

These are five sources to investigate. Use the ones relevant to the subject, check the current facts and have legal statements reviewed by the designated attorney. A useful page does not need to force all five in.

  • Courts

The relevant court, jurisdiction, location and official guidance, checked against the kind of matter being described.

  • Procedure

Current local procedures from primary sources. The attorney reviews applicability, deadlines and any exceptions before they are stated.

  • Past matters

Only approved, accurate experience that can be described under confidentiality and advertising rules. Removing a name alone does not establish permission to publish it.

  • Local facts

A relevant figure with its source, geography, period and limits. Leave statistics out when they do not help answer the question.

  • The community

How the firm genuinely serves people in the area, including realistic office access or remote-contact arrangements.

The rules for building city pages.

How should each city page be built?

A clear subjectA useful next step

Use a clear, browseable structure and truthful page information. Google’s spam policies and people-first content guidance are the basis for the content review.

  • Headline

State the actual subject and relevant place naturally. Keep the heading readable and consistent with what the page explains.

  • Address

Use a clear, stable URL within the site’s chosen structure. The exact pattern is an editorial choice, not a ranking guarantee.

  • Schema

Describe the real legal service and office facts where relevant. Do not invent a city office or imply that schema creates one; structured data must agree with visible information.

  • Links in

Make the page discoverable from the appropriate practice or location information, with links that fit the visitor’s next question.

  • Links out

Use relevant official court, government or other primary sources where they support a specific fact, instead of adding a city-site link as a ritual.

  • Next step

Offer the real contact route and explain what happens next. Website conversion covers practical contact patterns.

An office is a place. A service area is a reach.

An office page explains an actual location: its people, practices, directions and contact arrangements. Multi-location SEO covers that office-level plan. A service-area page explains a place the firm genuinely serves and must state the contact arrangements honestly.

The two can overlap where that helps the visitor; they do not require separate pages or a fixed schema type in every case. Business Profile eligibility is assessed independently, and a city page does not establish an eligible office or guarantee map visibility. Both belong to the wider Google Maps and local SEO plan.

Keep the facts and purpose current.

In the proposed quarterly review, check whether the page’s facts remain current, whether its purpose is distinct and what available search or inquiry data shows. Low recorded conversions alone do not justify deleting a useful page: investigate visibility, attribution and the visitor’s needs first.

Improve, consolidate or retire a page when the evidence supports the choice, preserving useful information and planning links or redirects for a real-site change. Connect inquiries to consultations and signed cases only where intake records permit. See reporting to signed cases.

A reason for every page in the plan.

Before you add another place.

?What will this page help someone do?
Can we use one template and swap the city name?

A shared layout is fine. The information still needs a distinct, useful purpose. Swapping place names in substantially similar pages can create doorway or scaled-content concerns; we review what the reader gains from each page.

Do we need an office to have a city page?

An honest page can explain a place the firm genuinely serves without implying an office there. An actual office page and any Business Profile have separate factual and eligibility requirements.

How many city pages should we have?

There is no fixed count. Start with genuine areas served, existing page coverage and distinct visitor needs. Search or intake evidence informs the plan rather than establishing a universal target.

Will city pages get us onto the map?

A page can provide useful local information, but it does not remove distance or create an eligible office. Map visibility also depends on relevance, distance and prominence; no position is guaranteed.
